Privacy Policy

Christian Mutual Med-Aid (CMM) takes your privacy very seriously. Please read our policy so that you are aware of how we may use your information and how we will not use your information. For the purposes of this policy, “member” refers to both currently active and inactive members, as well as prospective members who have contacted CMM.

Our Privacy Principles

  • We do not sell member information.

Information We Collect

We collect information to better serve our members. Sometimes the information we collect includes basic details, such as the browser you are using. Other times, the information we collect may also include sensitive or private information, such as medical bills and other health-related information. CMM’s goal is to collect only the minimum amount of data necessary to fulfill the ministry’s needs and provide any agreed-upon services in a simple and secure manner.

We collect information in two ways:

Information You Provide to Us

This includes uploading images of bills, entering personal information on an application, or simply requesting more information. This type of information is always provided to us voluntarily, and in many cases, the purpose is to provide a service to you.

Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Information such as your name, address, date of birth, email address, etc., may be collected and used to send you additional information about CMM or as part of your membership information.

When a medical condition is posted to the membership, the name, address, and, in some cases, the electronic payment platform address are included in a share assignment notification, which is sent to a certain number of members based on the amount of the bills related to that medical condition. This allows members to share costs directly with one another.

Protected Health Information (PHI)

PHI can refer to information such as medical bills, treatment history, medical “needs,” etc. The medical information we collect will always be kept confidential and will only be used by CMM Ministries staff for one of two purposes: 1. determining whether a bill is eligible for sharing, and 2. negotiating or repricing the charges. The data will only be accessed or retrieved by authorized personnel, and only to the extent necessary to fulfill these purposes.

When a medical condition is shared with the membership, the related prayer request and a brief description of the medical condition are included in a sharing assignment notification, which is sent to a certain number of members based on the amount of the bills associated with the medical condition. This allows members to share directly with one another.

Information we collect from you to use our services

We collect information about what you use on our site and how you use it. This information helps us provide a higher level of service and gives us insight into how best to improve. The information we collect includes:

Device Information

We may collect information about the hardware you are using. This may include whether you are using a mobile phone or a computer browser. Depending on the device used, the information may include the device number, browser version, operating system, etc.

Log Information

When you use our services or view content provided by CMM, we may automatically collect and store certain information in server logs. This may include

Location Information

There are many ways to track location information. One method we use is IP address tracking, which provides us with the state and city from which you are connecting. This helps us assess usage, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that we are providing a high level of service to our members and guests.

Local Storage

We may collect and store information (including personal information) locally on your device using mechanisms such as browser web storage (including HTML5) and application data caches. This may be done to improve speed or security.

Cookies and Anonymous Identifiers

We use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit a CMM Member service. This sometimes includes the use of cookies. We also use cookies and anonymous identifiers when you interact with services provided by certain third parties.

Other Information

Some information is automatically collected through tools such as Google Analytics. CMM does not always have direct control over what information is collected by Google Analytics; however, where possible, all information collected by Google Analytics or otherwise is protected in accordance with this policy. This information may be associated with a unique identifier to link information from Google Analytics across multiple sessions (and any activity within those sessions, whether authenticated or unauthenticated) with other user information obtained by CMM. By continuing to use our site, you hereby consent to CMM’s use of Google Analytics with your information. If you wish to opt out, Google offers a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on that can prevent the Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing information about your visit activity with Google Analytics.

Donation Details

CMM offers convenient ways for friends of the ministry to donate online. Some information is collected from donors during the process to ensure proper receipt and tracking. This includes name, address, phone number, e Email, and credit card information, etc.

Although this information is not typically shared outside the organization, please let us know if you specifically wish to restrict access to any donation-related information by outside parties. You may also contact us to review any personal information (if any) that we currently have on file.

CMM takes the security of your information very seriously and employs several methods to protect the information we collect. These include physical and logical access controls, firewalls and intrusion detection systems, file monitoring and backup, and more.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding our handling of data, our privacy policy, or the security and compliance of member data, please contact info@cmmlogos.org.
