Korean-Style Health Screening Center to Open in Cerritos

Logos Mission, which operates the CMM Christian Medical Mutual Aid Society, is moving forward with plans to establish a Korean-style health screening center in Cerritos, Southern California. The SL Christian Foundation (SL Christian Foundation, Chairman Rev. Park Do-won), a nonprofit organization established by Logos Mission, plans to provide Korean-style health screening services in Southern California, where there is a large membership base of the Christian Medical Mutual Aid Society.

According to Logos Mission’s CMM Christian Medical Mutual Aid Association and Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (President Song Jeong-han) on the 29th, on the 24th (Korean time), SL Foundation Chairman Park Do-won, Logos Mission Vice Chairman Park In-deok, and others signed an advisory agreement in the main conference room at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital to establish a Korean-style health screening center in Los Angeles.

Previously, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in July 2023 and agreed to move forward with a project to establish a Korean-style health screening center in the United States.

Seoul National University Bundang Hospital plans to dispatch a team of executive advisors to the Los Angeles area under a consulting agreement. The advisory team will provide the personnel, equipment, systems, and training necessary for the establishment and operation of a health screening center.

In addition, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and Seoul National University Hospital plan to support the SL Foundation in successfully establishing a health screening center and to build a collaborative referral system for patients in the United States—such as those in Southern California—who wish to visit Korea for treatment and advanced diagnostic testing in the future.

The Chicago-based Logos Mission has been operating the Christian Medical Mutual Aid Society for over 20 years, providing medical cost-sharing services to its members.

Last November, Logos Mission acquired an office building in Cerritos for $31.6 million to expand its medical services. The building is scheduled to be remodeled into a Korean-style health screening center spanning approximately 40,000 square feet.

The facility is scheduled to open in 2025. Members of the LA-area Christian Medical Mutual Aid Association and others will be able to use the Korean-style one-stop health screening service.

Ko Kyung-mi, Director of Public Relations for the Christian Medical Mutual Aid Association, said in a phone interview with this newspaper, “We will provide a detailed explanation regarding the plan to establish a Korean-style health screening center in an official press release on May 8.”

Song Jeong-han, president of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, said, “We will help our Korean compatriots prevent diseases in a timely manner and enjoy healthy lives through our state-of-the-art Korean-style health screening center.”

Park Do-won, Chairman of the SL Foundation, said, “In collaboration with Sungru University Hospital, we have established the first Korean-style health screening center in the United States. The fact that Korean Americans can receive treatment at Seoul National University Hospital, which is renowned for its outstanding medical care, will also be a benefit.”

Meanwhile, the SL Preventive Medical Center, which has completed its corporate registration, is scheduled to take over the operation of the screening center going forward.
