Hallelujah! Today, I give thanks to the living God and praise Him for saving me through Jesus Christ. From childhood, I was frail and a source of worry for my parents, but as I grew older, it seemed I was becoming healthier.
However, after getting married and having children, I developed preeclampsia, which took a heavy toll on my health. Since my health didn’t improve much after giving birth, I began suffering from chronic conditions—diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol—starting in my early 30s.
My diabetes remained uncontrolled because I couldn’t stick to my diet, and my stress levels kept mounting. I always felt sluggish, had trouble moving around, and struggled with depression. I was taking medication for my diabetes and high cholesterol, but my condition didn’t improve. Above all, I felt deeply guilty toward my family because I wasn’t my usual cheerful self.
Then, in my early 50s, I immigrated to the United States. Above all, it was difficult to go to the doctor because health insurance premiums were so expensive. I went to the doctor once every three months for a chronic condition, but I was always worried that I might develop a more serious illness. However, I learned about the CMM Christian Medical Mutual Aid Society and signed up with my husband. Since then, I’ve received significant medical expense benefits from CMM, which has allowed me to put my worries to rest.
In 1998, I suddenly developed stomach pain and went to the emergency room, where I was diagnosed with appendicitis. By God’s grace, the surgery went well, but I was worried about the enormous hospital bill of $20,000. Fortunately, CMM helped cover all the medical expenses, so now I no longer have to worry about going to the hospital.
As I got older, I began visiting the emergency room more frequently, and each time, all my medical bills were covered through CCM, freeing me from the burden of medical expenses. When acquaintances around me mentioned that medical costs in the U.S. were a burden, I introduced them to CCM Christian Medical Mutual Aid, and several of them ended up joining.
Now that I have regained my health, I am living peacefully, trusting in God’s guidance. I am so grateful that a Korean Christian organization in the United States is helping those in need through such a wonderful program. I am thankful for everything, as God has called us to be the light and salt of the world and has delivered us from calamity and despair. I pray that I may be used in the work of evangelism and missions, and I pray that today, too, all those who do not know the Gospel and are trembling in the darkness amid various problems may encounter God. I give thanks to God.
