I am a member living in New Jersey. Since I did not have health insurance, I was required to pay a penalty for two years after Obamacare went into effect. As the penalty amount increased with each passing year, I initially joined the CMM Christian Medical Mutual Aid Society as a Gold Plus member to avoid paying the penalty. Since I hadn’t suffered from any major illnesses during that time, I managed just fine for several years. However, in 2023, I received two significant forms of assistance through the Christian Medical Mutual Aid Society regarding medical expenses, and I would like to share my testimony.
First, I hadn’t been able to get a proper health checkup for quite some time, but when I had the opportunity to visit Korea for the first time in 20 years, my younger sister from my mother’s side encouraged me to get a basic health checkup. Since the cost of medical tests in Korea is lower than in the U.S., I was able to undergo several different tests. I had been somewhat concerned, but once I received the results, I felt truly relieved. After returning to the U.S., I submitted a request for medical expense assistance to the Christian Medical Mutual Aid Association, and in accordance with their guidelines, I received financial assistance to cover the costs.
Second, two months after arriving in Korea, I faced significant difficulties due to an unexpected incident. I fell forward onto the concrete sidewalk in front of my house, injuring my knee and wrist and sustaining a deep cut on my face. When I went to a nearby urgent care center, they told me I needed to go to the emergency room immediately. Ultimately, the wound was so deep that I had no choice but to undergo surgery at a plastic surgery clinic to have my upper lip sutured.
When I contacted the Christian Medical Mutual Aid Society, they not only offered sincere words of comfort and provided a detailed explanation of their medical cost-sharing program, but they also offered intercessory prayer on my behalf. Thanks to their support, although I still have some scarring and my skin hasn’t fully healed, I am continuing to improve. My recovery is taking longer than I expected, but because I received such great comfort and financial assistance, I wanted to express my gratitude.
Although I joined as a member without any particular expectations, I would like to express my gratitude to the Christian Medical Mutual Aid Society for providing so much help and offering hope to so many people facing difficult circumstances. I hope that even more people will join so that this can become a precious opportunity for us to support one another.
Gracious Heavenly Father, I pray that Your grace may be with all CMM members. I also earnestly pray that You will guide CMM in every step it takes.
Be with our members who are battling illness at this time, and answer their earnest prayers. Shine the light of healing upon them and restore them to health. We believe that all things are possible if You will it.
I believe that there is no one righteous before God, nor is there anyone upright or perfect. Yet I believe that He declares those He has called to be righteous and that He also glorifies them.
Guide each and every one of us, and grant us the faith to repent even when we sin, the faith to be renewed even when we are slothful, and the faith to persevere even when we are sick and groaning.
Since no one can be saved without God’s love and grace, grant us the mercy of our compassionate God.
