"Run for Love 5K Run & 1M Walk" Held to Promote Health and Unity in Chicago’s Korean Community

The “Run for Love 5K” race, a flagship event dedicated to promoting health and fostering community harmony within Chicago’s Korean-American community, will be held on Saturday, May 16.

로고스선교회(Logos Missions)와 CMM 기독의료상조회가 주최하는 이번 대회는 당일 오전 7시 30분 일리노이주 글렌뷰에 위치한 갤러리 파크(Glenview Gallery Park)에서 열린다.

Launched in 2006 to promote unity within the Korean community, this event is set to be an especially meaningful celebration this year, marking the 50th anniversary of Logos Mission and the 30th anniversary of CMM Christian Medical Mutual Aid Society.

The event consists of two categories—a 5K run and a 1-mile walk—and is open to everyone, regardless of age or gender, who can participate at their own pace.

According to the schedule, on-site registration and packet pickup will begin at 6:40 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The 5K race will start at 8:00 a.m.

The 1-mile walk will begin at 8:10 a.m., followed by the announcement of the results, an awards ceremony, and a raffle starting at 9:00 a.m.

Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K race, as well as to the top three male and female finishers in each age group ranging from 12 and under to 75 and over.

The 1-mile walk is open to everyone and does not include a competitive ranking, so anyone can participate without pressure.
The registration fee is $40 for the 5K run and $30 for the 1-mile walk. You can register online (bit.ly/2026run4love), by mail, or on-site.

The organizers announced that they plan to provide commemorative T-shirts to the first 400 registrants.

This event is co-hosted by the KG Runners Club and sponsored by the Korean American Association of Chicago, with participation from various running clubs across Illinois, all aiming to help promote a healthy running culture within the local community.

An organizer stated, “Run for Love is more than just a sporting event; it’s a festival that celebrates healthy living and community harmony,” adding, “We hope many families and neighbors will join us for this event and have a wonderful time.”
