CMM Christian Medical Fellowship Releases CA Regional Member, Non-Member Survey Results

95% willing to use Korean-style one-stop health checkup centers

CMM Christian Medical Association (CMM), in partnership with Seoul National University Hospital and Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, commissioned G&C Research (Pastoral Data Research Institute), a leading Christian survey company in Korea, to conduct a 25-day survey from December 10, 2024 to January 3, 2025 in advance of the opening of a Korean one-stop health checkup center in Cerritos, California, in 2026.

The survey was designed to understand how CMM members in California are receiving health screenings and how CMM can improve its services.

The survey was completed by 833 CMM members and 201 non-members who live in California and are between the ages of 20 and 65, making them a valid sample for analysis.

According to the findings, 22.6% of members and 75.1% of non-members have health insurance, and more than 65% of people regularly receive a comprehensive health checkup.

Preventing illness and taking advantage of opportunities when visiting Korea were the main reasons for getting a health checkup. On the other hand, both members and non-members cited cost as the most common reason for not getting checked.

Of those who had a comprehensive health checkup in both Korea and the U.S., 84.7% of members and 86.0% of non-members were more satisfied with their health checkup in Korea than in the U.S.

The main reasons cited were one-stop service (86.3% of members and 83.7% of non-members) and low cost (52.2% of members and 48.8% of non-members).

When asked about their willingness to receive a one-stop comprehensive health checkup at a place like the Korean Health Checkup Center, which is scheduled to open in Cerritos, California, more than 95 percent of respondents said they would use it.The most popular reason for this was the one-stop service that allows for a comprehensive checkup in half a day, followed by low cost and Korean language communication. In particular, younger people were more interested in cost and older people were more interested in Korean language communication.According to the health status survey, 71.5% of Korean Americans in CA reported being "healthy" in the past year, and 73.8% of Christian Medical Sanghoe members reported being in good health.

In a survey of Korean one-stop health screening centers in the U.S., more than 95% of Koreans in CA expressed interest in using them.

42.7% correctly recognized the difference between CMM Christian Medical Relief Society and medical insurance, indicating that CMM is a healthcare sharing ministry organization, not a medical insurance company, and 28.7% of CMM members were referred to CMM by a trusted source.

When it comes to trust in CMM, 61.8% of members say they trust the organization, with only 4.1% not trusting it. Trust is higher among members who have experienced medical expenses, and the Net Promoter Score is positive.

When asked about their satisfaction with CMM, 44.9% of members said they were generally satisfied and 8.7% said they were not satisfied, with Gold Plus and Silver members being more satisfied than those with higher annual household incomes.
